Bristol Police Log December 26 – January 1, 2017

On December 26, 2016 at 0016 an officer was dispatched to a reported alarm activation at a district business. Upon arrival the officer found the business to be secure. The owner was notified of the alarm activation.

On December 26, 2016 at 0144 an officer observed a running vehicle parked in a pull-off on River Road in Lincoln. The operator of the vehicle was sleeping. An open container of alcohol was observed in the center console of the vehicle. After the officer was able to wake the operator field sobriety exercises were conducted which revealed the operator was within the legal limit to operate the vehicle. During a consent search of the vehicle the officer located a civil amount of marijuana. The operator was issued a ticket for possession of marijuana and a ticket for operator in possession of an open container of alcohol prior to being released.

On December 26, 2016 at 0950 an officer conducted fingerprints for an applicant of Addison North East Supervisory Union.

On December 26, 2016 at 1124 an officer completed a vehicle identification number verification for an out of district resident at the Bristol Police Department.

On December 26, 2016 at 1245 an officer conducted fingerprints for an applicant of Addison North East Supervisory Union.

On December 26, 2016 at 1632 an officer conducted a 30 minute contracted patrol on Monkton Road with (1) one ticket issued for speed.

On December 26, 2016 at 2221 an officer received a report of a vehicle that was parked in front of a residence on Elm St. The caller advised the vehicle had been parked there for a while with the headlights on. When the caller turned on his porch light the operator turned the headlights off. The officer checked on the operator and learned the operator had been using his cell phone and was in a location with good service. No other issues were found.

On December 27, 2106 at 0015 an officer assisted a district business employee by escorting them to the bank with an unusually large deposit. No problems were encountered.

On December 27, 2016 at 0745 an officer was dispatched to a Mountain Street residence along with Bristol Rescue for a reported injured toddler. Upon arrival the officer contacted the parent and caretaker who reported the injury was accidental. The toddler was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On December 27, 2016 at 1428 Dakota Yanton was contacted and taken into custody on an active arrest warrant for failure to appear. Yankton was transported to Addison Superior Court where he posted bail and was released on a citation to appear at a later date.

On December 27, 2016 at 1615 an officer conducted a 30 minute contracted patrol on Monkton Road with (1) one warning issued for speed.
On December 27, 2016 at 1730 an officer conducted 15 minutes of contracted traffic enforcement on Burpee Road. 1 warning issued for speeding.

On December 27, 2016 at 2025 an officer conducted 10 minutes of contracted traffic enforcement on Stoney Hill Road. 1 warning issued for defective equipment.

On December 28, 2016 at 1350 an officer assisted the Vermont State Police by conducting a forensic preview of a cellular device related to an active investigation. The report and findings were delivered to the investigating Trooper.

On December 28, 2016 at 1523 while conducting a Town Contracted patrol on Monkton Road an officer observed a vehicle traveling 53 in a posted 40. As the vehicle passed the officer they noted a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop and investigation the officer recovered a civil amount of marijuana and administered field sobriety tests to the operator. Signs of impairment were detected but not to a degree for criminal charges. The operator made arrangements for their vehicle to be towed from the scene and was issued (1) one ticket for speeding and (1) one ticket for possession of marijuana.

On December 28, 2016 at 1922 an officer received a request to conduct house checks from a district resident who was going out of town. All officers advised.

On December 28, 2016 at 2100 an officer received a request from a West St Business owner to check their business as he had received a motion alert from inside. The officer checked and found the building secure. The owner was notified.

On 12-28-16 at 2220 an officer conducted 45 minutes of contracted traffic enforcement at Daniel’s Four Corners. 1 ticket issued for stop sign violation, 1 warning issued for Defective Equipment.

On December 29, 2016 at 0030 an officer assisted the Federal Bureau of Investigations (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) with obtaining a case disposition for a 2003 criminal case. Information forwarded to the investigating agent.

On December 29, 2016 at 0120 an officer responded to a district residence for a reported domestic. Probable cause was found to arrest Charles Brutkoski (60) of Bristol for Domestic Assault and Interference with access to emergency services. Brutkoski was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Bristol Police Department. He was subsequently released with conditions of release to include a $500.00 Personal Recognizance Bond to appear in Addison Superior Court, Criminal Division on January 3, 2017.

On December 29, 2016 at 1237 an officer assisted Vermont State Police with a motor vehicle crash on Lincoln Road. The State Police were busy with many accidents due to the snow storm.

On December 29, 2016 at 1931 an officer responded with Bristol Fire Department to a single vehicle crash on Pine Street between Taylor and Maple Street. A vehicle had lost control and struck a utility pole. The driver was uninjured but the pole was broken. Green Mountain Power was notified and power crews were able to temporarily repair the pole until a new pole could be installed. A uniform crash report was completed and provided to the operator and his parents.

On December 29, 2016 at 2023 an officer responded to Martin’s Hardware for an alarm activation. The building was found to be secure. The owner was contacted who was able to visually check, remotely, the store via security cameras and saw no problems.

On December 30, 2016 at 1030 an officer was asked by Essex Police to locate a citizen on Lovers Lane. The citizen was located and information was passed along to Essex Police.

On December 29, 2016at 1400 a non-resident came to the Bristol Police Department to get their fingerprints taken for employment purposes.

On December 31, at 0123 an officer was requested by Vermont State Police to assist with a family fight and missing person in New Haven. Officer responded and assisted the Vermont State Police.

On December 31, 2016 an officer attended required Domestic Violence Training.

On December 31, 2016 at 1715 an officer responded at the request of Vermont State Police and Bristol Rescue for a reported overdose at a Hardscrabble Road residence. Prior to arrival a bystander administered narcan to the patient and was able to revive them. The scene was secured for rescue to evaluate the patient who denied transport.

On December 31, 2016 at 2050 an officer responded to a reported alarm at a West Street business. The business was found to be secure and the owner was notified of the findings.

On December 31, 2016 at 2240 an officer conducted a 1 hour Town Contract patrol on Monkton Road resulting in (1) one ticket issued for speeding, (1) one ticket issued for operating without a license, and (1) one warning issued for speeding.
