Bristol woman dies in New Haven car crash

NEW HAVEN — A 62-year-old Bristol woman died after her Chevrolet Cobalt crashed into a tree in New Haven on Wednesday.

Police, New Haven Fire Department, New Haven Rescue, and Bristol EMS crews responded to the single-vehicle accident on Main Street at approximately 5:40 a.m.

Police identified the driver as Marietta Pomainville, 62, from Bristol.

According to the report, Pomainville lost control of her vehicle on Main Street near East Street.

Police say the Cobalt spun clockwise in the roadway, traveled left of center, and struck a tree with the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Pomainville was killed due to severe blunt force trauma, authorities say.

Police say impairment did not appear to be a contributing factor to this crash.
